Former Rep. Barney Frank to Deliver 2014 Commencement Address at Historic Pine Manor College
Chestnut Hill, MA (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- Former United States Congressman Barney Frank will be the featured speaker at Pine Manor College’s 103rd commencement ceremony in May, the college announced today. Faculty, staff and guests will gather at the college’s scenic Chestnut Hill campus to celebrate the graduating seniors.
Representative Frank served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional district from 1981 to 2013.
“I had the privilege of representing Pine Manor College students and faculty when I served in Congress, so I was delighted to be offered the chance to speak to its graduating class this spring,” said former Representative Frank. “It will be an honor to wish the class of ’14 well as they take the education they received at Pine Manor into the world.”
“We are humbled and excited to welcome Mr. Frank to our campus to celebrate the accomplishments of our impressive graduates,” said President of Pine Manor College, Dr. E. Joseph Lee II. “This has been an exciting year for the Pine Manor family as we prepare to welcome our first coed class this fall. We have seen a tremendous amount of progress on campus, and I am confident that the best is yet to come.”
Last year the former women’s college became fully co-educational following approval from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in September, and in January the college formally welcomed Dr. Lee as its 11th president. In addition to these positive changes, the school also successfully completed its NEASC accreditation review, and continues to see significant increases in applications and enrollment.
“Pine Manor is a truly unique place for learning. Our small class sizes and individualized instruction allow our faculty and staff to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students can reach their full academic and personal potential,” said Dr. Lee. “Thanks to strong academics, hands-on experience, and deep bonds between faculty and students, Pine Manor graduates leave the college excited and ready to make a difference in their communities.”
