Acoustiblok Expands its Tampa Facility to Meet Demand for “Quieting The World”
Tampa, FLA (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- A Quiet Revolution has been Growing for Years
Fifteen years since the inception of Acoustiblok Soundproofing material, the company that bears the brand’s namesake, Tampa-based Acoustiblok, Inc., is expanding its facility in South Tampa near MacDill Air Force Base. To keep up with the growing demand for its products, the facility will expand its manufacturing facility from 30,000 sq. ft. to 45,000 sq. ft. This is the first phase of the project. More on Acoustiblok.
The second phase, set for early this summer, will double the current office space. Hiring projections are also good with plans to increase warehouse and sales staff in the coming months. Demand outside the US has also been on the increase and new international distributors are in the works.
Acoustiblok material is a thin 1/8 inch flexible membrane that increases the sound attenuation properties of conventional wall and floor/ceiling designs in residential and commercial structures. Independent lab tests show that one 1/8 inch layer of Acoustiblok added to a stud wall can reduce more sound than 12 inches of poured concrete. Rather than attempting to block or absorb sound as other materials do, the Acoustiblok material transforms sound energy into inaudible internal friction energy as the soft heavy material flexes from sound waves (virtually the same as lead without the environmental problems or costs).
Demand for sound proofing products has been steadily rising as noise pollution has become so prevalent in today’s world. Even staying in the house or place of residence can’t keep noise out. Unlike light waves, sound waves travel through walls of the places we live, work, and frequent. Researchers have found noise pollution not only leads to serious hearing damage, but it’s also been linked to lowered productivity, sleep disorders, heart arrhythmia and more.
Lahnie Johnson, Founder and President, first began his career in the aerospace industry and with that experience became an avid entrepreneurial problem solver. Uncovering a universal problem and finding a solution is what Johnson says is his passion and what he does best. When he realized how big noise problems had become and the complexity of the issue, he knew if he created the right products there would be an abundance of financial gain to be had. “The need is tremendous,” Johnson said. “Our business has continued to grow every year even with the recession,” he said. As the need for specific products grew, Acoustiblok created additional sound abatement products that utilize their award winning material. Primary products include Acoustiblok® viscoelastic polymer based soundproofing material, Acoustifence® outdoor noise barrier, All Weather Sound Panels®, QuietFiber® sound insulating material, Quiet-Cloud® industrial sound absorption panels, Acoustiblok WALLCOVER®, and Thermablok® aerogel (the highest insulation known) as a thin 1/4 inch flexible insulation strip for stopping thermal bridging.
Considered a green product, Acoustiblok’s products have proven benefits in health and medicine, transportation, public safety, consumer goods, energy and the environment, and industrial productivity, stimulating the economy and creating new jobs and businesses. Acoustiblok USA is on a path toward achieving another year of record sales revenue.
“Selling soundproofing products is most certainly not like an off the shelf item. Each problem tends to be unique. Understanding the principles of acoustics and knowledge of the surrounding construction and or machinery is necessary. Although our engineering department takes advantage of the state-of-the-art acoustical prediction software for indoor and outdoor noise prediction mapping, having years of experience can make a night and day difference in the outcome,” Johnson said.
Johnson is very big on the USA, and believes the US needs to get back to manufacturing real products. “America cannot exist as the economic power if it has been continually increasing its service industry rather than actually manufacturing a worthy product someone has need of. We should not forget that it was the Industrial Revolution and manufacturing that made America the strongest economy in the world. All of our products are made in the USA with all US materials,” Johnson said.
