Four Years in a Row of No Alcohol-Related Deaths During Fiesta® San Antonio
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) are proud to report that there were no alcohol-related fatalities that were related to Fiesta® attendees, according to the SAPD, during Fiesta® 2014.
“This is quite an achievement,” said John Melleky, CEO of the Fiesta® San Antonio Commission. “San Antonians and visitors to Fiesta® should be extremely proud of accomplishing this goal four years in row. Our community is responsible and utilizes the safety measures provided for a safe Fiesta®,” he added.
Fiesta® 2014 marks four years in a row that this goal has been achieved. The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission works year-round with its partners, TxDOT, SAPD, Silver Eagle Distributors and Yellow Cab, to establish safe options for getting to and from Fiesta® events. “This is significant. Responsible celebration is our message and we are proud of our Fiesta goers. Let the message of Drink, Drive, Go To Jail continue.” said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus.
The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission and its partners encouraged Fiesta®-goers to celebrate safely, by designating a driver, taking VIA Park and Ride or utilizing the Fiesta Safe Rides® program—which provides free cab ride vouchers through Yellow Cab.
Fiesta Safe Rides® is a program of the Fiesta® Commission Charitable Corporation, the 501c (3) arm of the Fiesta® San Antonio Commission. The Fiesta® Commission Charitable Corporation supports programs, events and nonprofit organizations that create a safe, healthy and educational Fiesta®, preserving the history, culture and heritage of San Antonio and positively impacting economic development and tourism.
The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission and its partners look forward to another safe Fiesta® 2015, which is scheduled for April 16-26! Viva Fiesta®!
