Garmin Forerunner 15 Best New Activity Tracker 2014 Says HRWC
Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) May 16, 2014 -- Forerunner 15 is the best new activity tracker for 2014 because it provides GPS accuracy for distance says the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"Realistically the new Polar V800 is the world's best activity tracker but, as a high-end triathlon watch over $450, not many people are going to buy it", says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "The Forerunner 15 is under $200 and delivers heart rate, GPS accurate distance, pace and performs all major activity features".
Real Wheel Measured Testing
"We had already proven all the activity trackers to be inaccurate in distance tests we performed, so seeing GPS added to activity trackers in the form of watches is a step in the right direction", says Squire. He adds, "Accelerometer technology is over 60 years old and if you can't calibrate stride length then it is not accurate, which explains why all the other activity trackers on the market are not accurate".
"While the $100 activity bands are modestly accurate on step counts in tests we performed, they are significantly off in distance accuracy", says Squire. He adds, "One activity band band was off by one-half mile in a 3.1 mile course, which isn't real good".
"I think consumers got duped in to believing these activity tracker bands could get accurate distance, which is why it is nice to see GPS arriving on the scene", says Squire. He adds, "We know from significant wheel measurement testing that GPS is much more accurate".
Features, Price and Availability
"Garmin 15 counts steps, does distance, measures sleep and can even pace you which is something that none of the mainstream activity trackers can do", says Squire. He adds, "This GPS watch can also use a foot pod to get pace, distance and cadence indoors, something that no other activity tracker can do".
"Forerunner 15 also has an auto lap feature that can alert you and flash your last mile time at every mile marker", says Squire. He adds, "Prices are $199 for heart rate and $169 without and they should be available in June but you can advance order one now at the Heart Rate Watch Company".
