WellAdvantage™ Launches Wellness Coaching for Individuals
Sykesville, Maryland (PRWEB) May 27, 2014 -- WellAdvantage™, a preventive health and corporate wellness company, is thrilled to announce the launch of its new wellness coaching program – the WellAdvantage™ Coaching Institute. The Institute brings health and wellness coaching directly to individuals empowering healthy lifestyle changes, including diabetes prevention or management, weight loss, and smoking cessation. Anyone can sign up for a free 15-minute consultation with a coach by visiting http://welladvantagecoaching.com.
“We are excited about the WellAdvantage™ Coaching Institute. It is our fundamental belief that people want to be healthier, but really don't know where to start. It can be overwhelming at times,” expresses WellAdvantage CEO Jeanne Puglisi Sherwood, RN.
“Our goal is to eliminate the obstacles to success in health and wellness. Our coaching programs enable people to fulfill their life purpose by giving them the tools and opportunities to live their healthiest life.”
According to a recent study published in the journal Nutrition Research, eating behaviors are just as much risk factors for becoming overweight as food choice itself. The study concluded that overweight participants ate faster and in larger quantities. These same participants also chose higher calorie foods and engaged in “abnormal eating behaviors of various kinds.” The results indicate that not only is diet selection important to stem obesity and subsequent diseases, but behavior modification relating to how one eats is just as important.
Through the Institute, behavior modification coaching is conducted primarily via telephone consultations, and includes a complete web portal with health tools, mobile app and FitBit® integration. Coaching clients are able to use these health tools to track food and exercise, communicate with the coach, connect with a registered dietician and personal trainer, and access educational webinars and other resources that increase chances for great success. This approach not only makes coaching more accessible and affordable, but it also ensures regular communication and accountability.
“Just from changing my eating habits alone, I have lost 9.5 lbs,” shares one participant. “My main concern was how do I change up my eating habits and as hard as I thought it would be, it wasn’t.”
For those interested in becoming a wellness coach, the Institute offers a training program that prepares individuals to apply the principles of the Behavior Modification Theory when working with their own clients. The next training program is September 24-27, 2014. For more information, please visit http://welladvantagecoaching.com/training/.
