“Incorporating elements like new appliances, removing a dividing wall, and increasing counter space allowed us to make this kitchen a place where the owner could easily and proudly entertain guests and family." Allen Tankersly - Owner Cornerstone Builders

Cornerstone Builders Inc., a Beaverton remodeling contractor and design firm, is pleased to be announced as the winner of two awards from The Oregon Remodelers Association during the 2014 ORA awards dinner held at NW Natural in Portland, Oregon.

The award winning projects recognized by the ORA include a 1990’s Residential Kitchen Remodel, which earned the Best Residential Kitchen Under 40k; and the 1960’s Daylight Ranch Home which earned the Best Residential Bathroom Under 30k.

1990’s Residential Kitchen

Sustainable materials like Silestone Quartz were used on the counter to provide low maintenance longevity. Also, a large peninsula was added to increase counter space and increase the flow of the room with a built in wine fridge to facilitate guests and entertainment.

This remodeling project added value and functionality to the client’s home in a very affordable way.

1960’s Daylight Ranch Home Bathroom Remodel

The client wanted to renovate the basement into an area that could not only house guests, but also transform into their living space for future travels during retirement.

Client Goals:

  •     Enlarge the leaky and unusable shower.
  •     Match the original cabinets and woodwork from the main floor.
  •     Transform the adjacent room to the bathroom into a functional and stylish “anteroom.”

The remodeling contractors at Cornerstone Builders were able to achieve the client’s goals and more. The original 1960’s cabinets were matched from the built-ins on the main floor. Also, the shower was enlarged by setting glass walls further out on the shower curb and maximizing the height of the shower head by finishing the drywall ceiling before installation.

The “anteroom” was completed with a new closet and custom cabinet. Basketweave tile flooring was installed to provide a continuous feel between the bathroom and the anteroom.
