The Last Well’s Annual Vision Raises $400,000 to Bring Water and the Gospel to Liberia
Sulphur Springs, Texas (PRWEB) June 04, 2014 -- On May 22, 125 guests filled every seat at the Buffalo Creek Pavilion in Rockwall, Texas. While they enjoyed top quality barbecue, attendees listened to Dr. Todd Phillips as he explained how The Last Well (TLW) plans to provide clean water and the Gospel to the entire nation of Liberia by the end of this decade.
“I’ve just never seen a clearer and more compelling presentation than what I saw tonight,” said Byron Prescott, who attended the event with his wife. “I couldn’t leave without making the decision to support this mission until the last well is drilled.”
By the end of the evening, Prescott and the other guests who listened to Phillips’s presentation had pledged $400,000 to help the organization he founded six years ago meet this ambitious goal. These new donors joined a group of about 40 families who committed $3.1 million at last year’s Last Well Vision event.
Phillips reflected on the night: “It’s amazing to see what God is choosing to do through a small group of committed Christians in the smallest county in the second largest state in the union. Imagine, a small army of Christ-followers transforming a nation!”
The Last Well board member Gus Antos added, “Who wouldn’t want to be a part of making history and giving God all the glory?”
“I’m profoundly grateful to the members of RC40 who again demonstrated their generosity and to everyone else who blessed us with donations at Vision 2014,” Phillips said. “Their kindness is in turn enabling us to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ and clean water to people across Liberia.”
TLW and its partners now have the evangelistic, church-planting and drilling capacity to complete at least 600 projects annually (up from 250 last year). At that rate, TLW would be able to reach all of Liberia by 2018. But the task is not yet complete, because the organization still requires an additional $2.5 million in funds to reach the remaining one million Liberians who lack access to clean water and have yet to hear the Gospel.
Anyone wanting to donate to The Last Well can give via its secure website, or start a fund-raising campaign by clicking “Start a Fundraiser” on the main page of the ministry site. People also can help make a difference in Liberia by getting involved on in TLW’s Pass the Bottle Campaign. Those who prefer contributing by check can send one to:
