No, we are not talking about the infamous Michelangelo’s “Last Judgment” masterpiece on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel; but we are talking about the sale of a masterpiece, that being the best little pizzeria and Italian trattoria in New Jersey Shore’s Monmouth Beach. Michael Angelo’s, located at 36 Beach Road, Monmouth Beach, Monmouth County, New Jersey has a new owner and shortly and new name as reported by Richard R. Santore of Bielat Santore & Company, Allenhurst, New Jersey, the broker for the sale.

“It was kind of hard to sell this one,” says former owner Angelo DiCapua. “This was my first restaurant and I’ve got a lot of sweat and blood in this store. But with four MJ’s Restaurants and three Michael Angelo’s Pizzerias it’s time to start lightening the load,” continues DiCapua. DiCapua and a partner own MJ’s Bar & Grill in Tinton Falls, Middletown, Neptune and Matawan and Michael Angelo’s Pizzeria in Long Branch and Sea Girt.

The new proprietor, Massimo DiMeo hales from Monte di Procida, Italy, a small commune in the Province of Naples in the Italian region of Campania, located about 9 miles west of Naples. Mr. DiMeo has been in the United States for some time now and has owned and operated other pizzerias prior to his most recent purchase of Michael Angelo’s.

DiMeo has plans to change the name to DiMeo’s Italian Market and Trattoria and expand the concept from pizza and Italian food to include an Italian Specialty Store with prepared meals, fresh produce, homemade mozzarella, special panini’s and more. “We want to attract people to our store by offering them a complete Italian experience. My wife makes the best mozzarella and I make a very good pizza. Everything in our store will be fresh, homemade and tastefully prepared,” states DiMeo.

The restaurant is open seven days a week. It seats 90 inside in both the pizzeria and trattoria and can accommodate an additional 16 guests on its outdoor patio during the fair weather months. The DiMeo family looks forward to your visit.
