University of Dallas Business & Society Network to Host “Leading for the Triple Bottom Line”
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- The University of Dallas Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business will host a panel discussion on Friday, July 11 to explore methods for integrating corporate social responsibility into the culture of an organization. The event will take place from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the Haggar University Center on the University of Dallas campus. The complimentary event includes breakfast and two presentations followed by a 30-minute interactive roundtable discussion and networking with Dallas/Fort Worth business leaders.
The event is hosted by the University of Dallas Business and Society Network, an open forum for building relationships, exchanging best practices, and fostering dialogue around issues of corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, and eco-innovation. The presentation partner is EarthPeople Media, a Dallas-based sustainability communications firm and publisher.
Presenters include Jack Lowe, retired CEO, TDIndustries, Inc., and John Muros, Ph.D., Senior HR Research Consultant, AT&T. These industry experts will cover models in servant leadership and sustainability to demonstrate how top organizations are weaving sustainability thinking into their executive teams and employees.
"There is growing evidence that a company's social responsibility efforts provide a compelling and important way to engage and retain employees,” said Greg Bell, associate professor at the university’s Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business. “Companies such as Cisco Systems, General Electric and IBM view employee engagement in CSR as a strategic imperative. Large and small companies should take a closer look at CSR as a means to engage their employees.”
“To truly embed CSR within an organization requires engaging the people inside the organization through a robust, comprehensive program involving human resources,” said John Muros of AT&T. “CSR efforts that are executed without engaging in the full spectrum of talent management activities run the risk of ending up as notable, but still peripheral, initiatives, at best, or transparently inauthentic public relations ploys, at worst.”
This UD BSN quarterly event is geared toward professionals, students, and business owners interested in integrating sustainability into their operations, human resources, supply chains, marketing, and other business functions.
