Ravi Namboori, a Cisco evangelist and a person of Indian origin (PIO), has made a commitment to donate an undisclosed sum of money this summer to Hyderabad, India-based not-for-profit organization, Akshaya Foundation, through the Namboori Charitable Trust that helps rehabilitate orphaned children.
India houses one of the largest number of orphaned children in the world. Also, the Asian country faces the prospect of scarcity of food supplies in the year 2014 owing to poor rainfall, making it dependent on friendly nations and philanthropists for aid. This has prompted Namboori to come forward and do his bit for his country of origin.
Announcing this, Ravi Namboori said, “We cannot be insensitive to the plight of this children who have nobody to tend them. It is, in fact, our duty to help these hapless children, who are the future global citizens.”
Ravi Namboori emphasized, “Focus should be on identifying physically challenged among the disadvantaged. Akshaya Foundation has the right attitude and proper methodology to identify polio-affected, visual and hearing impaired, and mentally retarded children, with special emphasis on girls among orphaned children.”
Akshaya Foundation, which has been functioning from the year 1988, has provided shelter and food to thousands of orphaned children in and around Hyderabad.
Lauding the efforts of Akshaya Foundation, Namboori added, “The need of the hour is the participation of many more non-profit firms like Akshaya Foundation to take proactive steps to ensure that more homeless people are rehabilitated.”
