Toshiba Vision Screens Broadcast Historic NASA Footage to Celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission to the Moon
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2014 -- Toshiba celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 space mission with a special video from NASA that aired high atop One Times Square on the Toshiba Vision Screens, on Sunday, July 20th. A second video is set to air later tonight.
The first video aired at 4:18 PM EST which was the exact moment 45 years ago that Neil Armstrong radioed to mission control in Houston, Texas that “The Eagle has landed” on the moon. After a 60-second countdown, the video featured earth-shattering, NASA footage of the Apollo 11 mission from the launch on July 16th, to the landing and first ever moon walk on July 20th and the spacecraft’s return to Earth on July 24th.
After another 60 second countdown, the second video is set to air at 10:56 PM EST, the same exact time that Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon, writing himself into the history books with the quote, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The video on the Toshiba Vision Screen will feature a one minute long, side-by-side film, where one side is the original 1969 televised video of Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon and on the other, is a restored version from 2009.
“July 20th, 1969 is one of the most significant dates in space and aeronautic history. We at Toshiba were honored to be part of celebrating this momentous occasion in which these two historic videos where shown to millions of viewers in Times Square,” said Eddie Temistokle, Sr. Manager Corp.
