Philadelphia Chef Karen Docimo Named Personal Chef of the Year

Chef Karen Docimo, owner and operator of Karen’s Chef Du Jour Personal Chef Service, was honored as Personal Chef of the Year during the 2014 United States Personal Chef Association (USPCA) National Conference in Long Beach, California on July 19.

Chef Karen Docimo has been a member of the United States Personal Chef Association since she started Karen’s Chef Du Jour Personal Chef Service in 2000 and been a Certified Personal Chef since 2003. In addition to her Personal Chef Service, Chef Karen spent 9 years as Treasurer of the USPCA’s Greater Philadelphia chapter and co-chaired the Philadelphia Chef Conference in 2007.

Criteria for the Chef of the Year award include business structure, development, community outreach, and service quality. “I am truly honored for receiving Personal Chef of the Year 2014,” Chef Karen Docimo stated. “I hope to continue to inspire others to give of their talents for those who cannot do for themselves, mentor my colleagues and serve our association.” The award was voted on by members of the USPCA and a panel of judges chosen by the USPCA.

The 2014 USPCA national conference in Long Beach drew over 100 professional personal chefs from around the world. Chef Docimo has taught classes at previous conferences and was in attendance this year. “We are so proud of Karen’s accomplishments,” said USPCA President Larry Lynch. “Karen’s impact on her chapter, her community, and the association as a whole make her the perfect example of a Personal Chef of the Year.”
