Yuma, AZ (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Yuma Regional Cancer Center Officially Opens
State-of-the-art facility and complementary therapies brings comprehensive cancer care to Yuma, Arizona.
The 38,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Yuma Regional Cancer Center has officially opened. A Mayo Clinic Care Network member since 2012, the program includes services such as open, semi-private and private infusion rooms, oncology pharmacy, laboratory, massage therapy, American Cancer Society Resource Center, hematology, rehabilitation center, a pain management program and a comprehensive research program with an emphasis on collaborative genetic treatment.
The new community cancer center meets the needs of the Yuma community by providing comprehensive cancer care close to home, eliminating the need for many patients and families to travel to receive care.
The new Cancer Center program includes seven oncologists, as well as a physicist, infusion nurses, radiation therapists, nurse navigators, pharmacy staff, clinical assistants, financial staff, registration staff, supportive care staff, schedulers, medical record specialists, cancer registrar, lab staff and administrators. In five years, it is projected that the Cancer Center will have more than 60 full time employees.
“The new Yuma Regional Cancer Center truly is owned by this community,” said Camie Overton, Acting CEO for Yuma Regional Medical Center. “The ideas and feedback of cancer center patients and their families were valued and incorporated into the plans to bring comprehensive cancer care to Yuma. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this facility and this program. From our oncologists to our architect, builders, administration, staff and community members, this is a dream come true.”
The Yuma Regional Cancer Center building was designed by ARCHSOL and built by Okland Construction in conjunction with Yuma-based general contractor Merrill-Walker Builders.
