Tariq Drabu Concerned Over the Number of UK Parents Not Taking Their Children to the Dentist Based on 2014 Figures
(PRWEB) August 02, 2014 -- Tariq Drabu a leading dentist and specialist oral surgeon, was born and educated in Manchester in the United Kingdom. He was one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the UK and spent years working in some of the busiest dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia. His passion for oral surgery resulted in him receiving his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr. Drabu owns the successful Langley Dental Practice and is also the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. He also finds time in his busy schedule to tutor and mentor postgraduate dentists in oral surgery at the UCLAN Dental Clinic in Preston.
Tariq Drabu was speaking about an article published on 22 July 2014 on a popular dental website. The full article can be read here.
Tariq Drabu said “A report recently released by the UK Dental Consumer Market has revealed that fifty two percent of the United Kingdom population has visited the dentist in the last two years. This is not a significant change since 2011, despite all the reports and efforts put in by dental professionals over the past two years. The concern is that only fifty three percent of parents with children under twelve take them to the dentist every six months, while seven percent believe that they don’t need to pay much attention to their children’s primary teeth.”
Tariq Drabu went on to say “Twenty five percent of parents think it’s important that baby teeth need to be checked by the dentist as soon as they develop. While this appears to be a trend in the UK and parents don’t see the importance of their children visiting the dentist from a very early age, the good news is that the sale of oral care products for children aged twelve and under has increased. There appears to be a significant lack of awareness in the importance of oral care for younger children, but with the introduction of new products for younger children, I am hoping that awareness can be increased.”
Tariq Drabu closed in saying “The oral care market has increased by four per cent each year for the past two years and this is where opportunity can come into play. The market is expected to grow by twenty two percent in the next two years, so these are the companies that should be creating awareness in parents on the importance of oral care in younger children.”
