Sferrella to Address New Radiology Mandates, Existing Certifications in Radiology at American Healthcare Radiology Administrators Annual Meeting
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- Sheila M. Sferrella, of Regents Health Resources, a health care consulting firm, will tackle the proposed Medicare mandates surrounding radiology when she addresses the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators in a panel discussion at their annual meeting August 10-13 in Washington.
“By 2017, Medicare has mandated that anyone performing radiology tests must have appropriateness criteria software,” says Sferrella. “The trouble is, no one has this software yet. We will discuss the required mandates including criteria and implementation feasibility with the audience.”
In addition to speaking about regulatory issues like appropriateness criteria software (clinical decision support), Sferrella will lead Certified Radiology Administrator workshops on asset resource and fiscal management. Sferrella helped create the CRA certification in 2002 and also served as editor of the companion text, “Financial Management in Radiology”. From 2004-2007, she was chair of AHRA’s Education Foundation. A past president of AHRA, she has been a regular speaker and publisher since 1998 for AHRA and other national radiology focused events.
Sferrella recently joined Regents from Collaborative Consulting Solutions, a consultancy she founded working with group practices, academic medical centers and other healthcare operations to identify cost savings and other operational analysis capabilities. Prior to Collaborative Consulting, she was the vice president of ambulatory services for St. Thomas Health in Nashville. She also held several executive administrative posts at various Pennsylvania and Maryland-based hospitals, including Lehigh Valley Health Network, where she was the administrator of diagnostic services.
