Jackie Ryan and the Tamir Hendelman Trio, perform with special guest Rickey Woodard. The JazzTimes calls Jackie Ryan “One of the outstanding jazz vocalists of her generation and, quite possibly, of all time...rivaling the dexterous sass of Sarah Vaughan, the instinctive smarts of Carmen McRae and the scintillating verve of Diana Krall.”
The Jon Mayer Quintet featuring Jon Mayer, piano; Roy McCurdy, drums; PJ Perry, alto sax; Claudio Roditi, flugel horn; and David Williams, bass. Pianist Mayer strives to finds new depths in the music played by the jazz greats.
The Roni Ben-Hur/Santi Debriano/Duduka Da Fonseca Trio teams-up with Amy London and Claudio Roditi. Vocalist London brings a warm, swinging style and Roditi adds “bop” and Brazilian elements to the mix. Israeli born guitarist Roni Ben-Hur, Panamanian born bassist Santi Debriano and Brazilian born drummer Duduka Da Fonseca, simultaneously converged on the New York City jazz scene in the 1980s and have been influencing the sound of the metropolis of jazz ever since. This unusual guitar jazz trio fabulously expresses the passionate emotionality, the worldly diversity, and the ultra-high musical virtuosity that defines the contemporary jazz of New York City today.
Closing out our 2014 Jazz Festival is the Jaime Valle Latin Jazz Ensemble featuring Jaime, Alex Acuna, Otmaro Ruiz, Rene Camacho and Allan Phillips. Special guests will include Claudio Roditi and David Williams. With outstanding performers such as these, it is sure to be a colorful and kinetic jazz experience.
Soka International Jazz Festival is presented in cooperation with Bluport Jazz.
