Voxy, Inc. Joins Forces with Non-Profit Atlas: DIY to Bring English Education to Immigrant Youth
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 25, 2014 -- Voxy, the education technology company that pioneered personalized and adaptive English language learning technology, today announced a partnership with Atlas: DIY, a non-profit based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, to bring free English education to immigrant students participating in the program.
As part of this effort, Voxy donated free licenses for their software platform to Atlas: DIY, as well as support with using the platform. To kick off the program, volunteers from the Voxy team trained Atlas: DIY administrators to enroll new students in the platform, and were available to enroll current students on-site at Atlas for the day. In addition to offering their language learning software to students, Voxy will also continue to monitor learner progress and engagement, and will deliver monthly reports to Atlas: DIY.
"We are very excited to be working with this population of learners, all of whom need to improve their English to succeed in their goals,” said Katharine Nielson, Voxy’s Chief Education Officer. “Because they are in the U.S. they get frequent chances to put the English they are learning with Voxy to use right away. We're hoping to follow up with them as they use the product to learn more about how to best meet their needs."
“Working at Atlas I have come in contact with countless young people who want to learn English but struggle to find the time to attend a class,” said Maria Caba, Director of Operations at Atlas: DIY. “We are so excited to partner with Voxy because, Voxy takes the biggest component that holds people back from learning English away, and that’s “time.” Voxy is a system that you can use at your own speed and around your own schedule. Furthermore the contents are real life contents; you learn the basics and also learn about what is going on in the news. Voxy is a simple choice for everyday ordinary people with real lives.”
Atlas: DIY works to support and empower immigrant youth and their allies by providing a range of resources and services in legal, educational, career and life skills realms.
