Andrew Borene Appointed to Chair 2015 Cyber Security Summit
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) August 28, 2014 -- The 2014 Cyber Security Summit is less than two months away and will contain more actionable takeaways for attendees than ever before. However, with cyber threats showing no signs of slowing down, plans are already well underway for the 2015 Summit, beginning with today's announcement of the 2015 Summit Chair: Andrew Borene.

Mr. Borene is a Counselor with the international law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington, D.C., where he coordinates representation of companies and individuals in general business and legal matters, including investigations, due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, national security, cybersecurity, privacy and data security. He also helps facilitate strategic relationships between public, private, and academic partners.

"This is an extremely important topic everywhere, but Minnesota in particular has taken a lead role in this area because of the many global companies located in the state. These companies face this stuff on a daily basis, and the Summit provides a chance for them, along with government and security professionals, to collaborate on ways to address the growing problem.”
Mr. Borene currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Cyber Security Summit, is a Truman National Security Project Defense Council Member and is on the Veterans Council of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition. Borene played the role of the president during a simulated cyberattack response as part of the Truman Security Project’s annual conference in May. The exercise was designed to explore the challenges of crafting a national policy response following a cyberattack.
As an Associate Deputy General Counsel at the United States Department of Defense, Mr. Borene represented the agency’s interests in classified court proceedings. He also served as a U.S. Marine intelligence officer in Iraq. He is the editor of American Bar Association legal reference books on human rights law, international humanitarian law and national security law. He has authored or co-authored articles on security, law and general business subjects. He also appears as a guest foreign affairs and security analyst for several international news networks. In addition, he serves on the Advisory Committee to the ABA’s Standing Committee on Law & National Security.
