A-Safe, Inc. Settles into Fuquay-Varina; Advanced Manufacturing Firm Expanding Production

U.K.-based manufacturing firm A-Safe, Inc., an advanced manufacturing firm best known for its safety barrier systems, has expended its footprint into southern Wake County. A-Safe, Inc. will lease 10,000 square feet of flex-industrial warehouse establishing the Company’s corporate, administrative, warehousing and assembly operations. The Company has planned a second phase to their project that includes constructing a 120,000 to 150,000 sf manufacturing and distribution facility that will be home to the Company’s North American headquarters, sales, administrative and customer service divisions. Once completed, A-Safe, Inc. will bring their total US investment to $19 million and is expected to result in the creation of 130 full time jobs.

Founded by David Smith in the United Kingdom in 1984 as a small polythene manufacturing company, A-Safe, Inc. has become one of the industry leaders in safety barrier systems having equipped and installed their safety barrier systems for companies such as Kimberly Clark, DHL, Coca-Cola General Motors, BMW, Airbus and Toyota. The Company’s clients also include major international airports such as Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport, Dublin Airport, Dubai and London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. As of 2010, A-Safe, Inc. has 10 global offices around the world that includes offices in the US, France, Italy,
Scandinavia, Australia, Germany and Malaysia.

The timing of A-Safe’s second phase of expansion that includes constructing a new 140,000 square-feet manufacturing facility that will create 130 jobs has not yet been finalized. Fuquay-Varina is on the short list for final consideration.
