Florida Home Partnership Recognized for Demonstrated Operations
Ruskin, FL (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- In addition to numerous certifications, Florida Home Partnership (FHP) is proud to announce that it has been awarded certification as a Community Development Corporation (CDC). The new certification program is administered by the Florida Alliance of Community Development Corporations, a statewide membership organization of community development corporations (CDCs), community housing development organizations (CHDOs), community action agencies (CAAs), stakeholders and supporters (http://www.flacdc.org).
The certification process validates the soundness of a nonprofit’s operations. State of Florida requirements, employee and board development strategies, effective service delivery, and responsible financial management are among several organizational standards that are integral components of the FLACDC’s certification process.
Some of the more notable accomplishments and certifications achieved by FHP include:
• Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO)
• Green Building Certified
• Florida Water Star Certified
• HUD Certified Builder and Several Best Practices Award Winner
• Southwest Florida Water District - 2010 Best Practice Sustainable Small Business Award
• Ranked 20th in 2012 and 17th in 2013 for the Top 25 Home Builders in the Tampa Bay Business Journal Book of Lists
• Two-time winner of the Hillsborough County Planning & Design Commission Award
• Twice Honored by the Parade of Homes
According to Earl Pfeiffer, Executive Director of FHP, “the CDC certification simply reconfirms our commitment to provide quality, affordable housing for low and moderate wealth families.” He goes on to state that, “although it took us two years to assure all components could be comfortably met, it is gratifying to have accomplished this goal.”

About the Florida Home Partnership
Florida Home Partnership (FHP) is a non-profit Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) that offers affordable homeownership opportunities to low and moderate-wealth first-time homebuyers. Utilizing the USDA Mutual Self-Help Housing Program(SHOP), the government program began over 40 years ago, and mirrors the "barn raisings" of the Quakers with neighbors helping neighbors to build their homes together. No construction experience is necessary. FHP provides participants with guidance and tools. Determination and hard work build equity in the new homes. This program is ideal for those desiring homeownership in rural communities but having limited resources.
