Butch Leonardson, Proven Technology Leader, Joins Cornerstone Advisors to Form New Program for Developing Information Technology Leaders
Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) October 06, 2014 -- Cornerstone Advisors, Inc., a management consulting firm focused on mid-size banks and larger credit unions, announced today that Weldon “Butch” Leonardson, a recognized information technology leader, is joining Cornerstone to lead the company’s new I.T. Leadership Development efforts.
Leonardson comes to Cornerstone with 30 years of experience in I.T. leadership. Since 1999, Leonardson has served as senior vice president and chief information officer at BECU in Seattle, where his team pioneered many emerging technologies and helped build the credit union’s multi-channel delivery environment into an industry-wide best practice model. Prior to BECU, Leonardson was a practice director at Arthur Andersen & Company (Accenture) and led I.T. at other organizations.

Leonardson will lead a Cornerstone Advisors specialized executive coaching service for financial services I.T. professionals. Noted Sommer, “Butch knows I.T. from the trenches to the C-suite, so he is the ideal coach to a CIO or CTO.”
Cornerstone is investing heavily in future I.T. Leadership efforts because of a critical need emerging in the industry. A key initiative of Cornerstone's I.T. Leadership Development Practice is the School of IT Leadership, in partnership with Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), the first of which will be held in September 2015. “We couldn’t be more excited to have such a well-known industry leader act as the foundation for an innovative new executive educational offering,” said Christopher Stevenson, VP of Professional Development and Innovation with CUES. Cornerstone is currently reviewing opportunities to develop a similar educational offering for bank I.T. executives.
Leonardson is on the Board of Regents of Seattle University and recently finished a two year term as Board Chair. He is also active in the Albers School of Business Leadership Formation Program. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration at Seattle University. He is currently one of 3 private sector CIOs serving on the Governors Technology Services Board for the State of Washington. He also serves on the Board of Franciscan Highline Medical Center.
