The Bozzuto Group Announces Healthy, Sustainable Restaurant to Join Monroe Street Market This Fall
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) October 07, 2014 -- The Bozzuto Group, a Greenbelt, Md.-based real estate services company, today announced that health-conscious, quick-serve restaurant Hälsa will join Monroe Street Market. Monroe Street Market is a multi-phase, mixed-use development located on five city blocks in Washington, D.C., immediately adjacent to the Brookland-CUA Metro station, and across the street from Catholic University.
Largely inspired by owner Emily Gaines’s global travels and experience with nourishing traditions surrounding food and health, Washington, D.C.-based Hälsa will bring local and sustainably sourced food to a 1,500-square-foot location in Monroe Street Market’s Portland Flats building. Construction is underway and the restaurant is expected to open in late fall.
Hälsa's menu will promote a diet based on in-season, all natural, nutrient dense foods. The restaurant will feature locally sourced ingredients from D.C. area based farms such as Tree and Leaf, Next Step Produce, Eco-Friendly Foods, and The Farm at Sunnyside.
Hälsa will offer a variety of nutritious, high quality food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, six days a week. The menu will include:
• Egg dishes, gluten-free coconut waffle, yogurt, quinoa, and acai bowls.
• Continually changing market plates; pick a protein, side, and ferment (kimchi, sauerkraut, and other vegetables.) Also available in family style portions to take home.
• Seasonal meat and vegetable burgers, soups, and specials.
• A cold grab and go case with sandwiches, salads, bento boxes, and snacks.
• Catering: Any combination of the above items available.
“Hälsa's offerings represent the best of what we want to create at Monroe Street Market, which is an authentic, creative and genuine experience for our residents and the Brookland/Edgewood community as a whole,” said Toby Bozzuto, president, The Bozzuto Group. “In addition, Hälsa's commitment to the environment, along with its support of local farmers, is a wonderful reflection of our dedication to creating sustainable communities.”
The Bozzuto Group, Abdo Development and Catholic University broke ground on Monroe Street Market in November 2011. The development consists of three buildings, Brookland Works, Portland Flats and Cornerstone, encompassing approximately 720 residences, 83,000 square feet of street-level retail, 15,000 square feet of artist studio space, and a 3,000 square-foot community arts center. In addition, Bozzuto Homes will break ground on 45 townhomes next year.
The apartment community features nearly 20,000 square feet of amenity space, including indoor and outdoor lounges with fireplaces; a 24-hour fitness center with yoga/Pilates studio; lounge, community room, and billiards; E-cafe; outdoor grilling stations; spa-style pool with expansive sundeck; outdoor lounges with bars and grills; as well as lush, beautifully landscaped courtyards.
A farmers market is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at Monroe Street Market through November 22, 2014. Operated by Lydia’s Fields, a local farm dedicated to growing organic produce, the market features regional farmers and food producers including Chesley Farms, Upper Crust Bakery, Zeke’s Coffee, Sweet Teensy, Delish Jams & Jellies, and Bonaparte Breads, among others.
Other retailers at Monroe Street Market include Barnes & Noble @ Catholic University, Brookland Pint, a 4,200 square foot restaurant owned by the team behind Meridian Pint and Smoke & Barrel, Busboys and Poets, &pizza, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, The Bike Rack, and Filter Coffeehouse.
