(PRWEB) October 15, 2014 -- Wesley Homes retirement communities and home health services welcomes speaker Missy Buchanan on Tuesday, October 29, 2014, for a free program titled “Aging Well in a Fast-Changing World.” The program will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Wesley Homes Des Moines. Call toll free to RSVP: 855-455-8827 or visit http://www.wesleyhomes.org.
Buchanan is a popular author, columnist and speaker on topics of aging and faith. Her non-denominational presentations encourage audiences of all ages to have a fresh view about maturing and 50 plus-ministry.
“Sometimes you just know when you've experienced a holy nudge, a stirring of your soul that moves you in a certain direction,” said Buchanan. “For me, the nudge has moved me to reach out to older adults, especially those who are struggling to find purpose and who need a dose of spiritual encouragement…As a writer and speaker, I find my inspiration in real-life situations involving older adults. Initially, those experiences came as I helped care for my own elderly parents in their final years. Today I find fresh inspiration in the lives of older adults who graciously invite me to pull up a chair and listen to both their joys and concerns about growing old.”
Buchanan’s books include Joy Boosters: 120 Ways to Encourage Older Adults, Don’t Write My Obituary Just Yet: Inspiring Faith Stories for Older Adults and My Story, My Song: Mother-Daughter Reflections on Life and Faith, co-written with Lucimarian Roberts, mother of Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. Buchanan’s blog talk radio show focuses on aging as God’s plan in the spiritual journey of life.
