DocBoss Announces Vendor Data Study at Canada 3.0 Event
Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) October 30, 2014 -- DocBoss announced this week at Canada 3.0 the launch of a new study (http://www.docboss.com/VendorDataStudy) that will focus on vendor data submission and management from both the supplier and recipient perspectives. The study will take place over a six month period with the goal of identifying standardization opportunities for engineering companies, suppliers and end-users in the vendor document control space; a report will be published with any findings next year.
“Sharing controlled documents between two distinct organizations is cumbersome. In many industries the solution to sharing data is the establishment of a common standard,” said Brad Bowyer, President of DocBoss. “We want to gather research to determine if this might be a conversation worth having with respect to vendor documentation.”
The study aims to:
• investigate vendor data submission and management from both the supplier and recipient perspectives;
• help identify key requirements (document types, metadata, legal etc) for the various uses of vendor data, and analyze current costs and capability to deliver to these requirements;
• identify standardization opportunities to provide the highest level of return;
• identify if there is sufficient interest to pursue a standard, the obstacles to overcome, and desired participants in the working committee.

About DocBoss
Focused largely on tagged equipment, DocBoss minimizes the manual work required to deliver project documentation. With a unique solution which creates and links the document register to the order data, DocBoss systematically creates document metadata (including document specific tag lists). We then use this data, (along with a heavy dose of document management and document formatting magic), to ensure compliance to document submission specifications. The DocBoss system appends customer specific cover sheets to every document, includes all relevant metadata (including tag lists), tracks approval status, location, transaction history and due dates. Finally, it creates every document compilation (record books, shipping dossiers etc.) required for the job. Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/docbosscom
