Quadra Island, BC (PRWEB) November 02, 2014
At The Table is a series of epicurean dinner events featuring award-winning Vancouver Island libations paired with unique, adventurous menus. Not your typical wine and food tasting event, At The Table is the creation of executive chef, Mariana Gabilondo, from Gowlland Harbour Resort, and winemaker, Jill Ogasawara, from SouthEnd Farm & Vineyards, who were looking for a way to showcase Quadra Island as not just a playground for outdoor enthusiasts but also a destination for foodies.
“The great thing about the At The Table events is that they aren’t your usual pairing dinners. We love all types of drinks and don’t shy away from unexpected food. For example, this year we’re featuring dishes inspired by literature, so we’re looking to iconic authors and what they loved and conveyed in their writing. Hemingway famously loved to tipple and hunt, so we’re selecting Victoria Spirits’ Victoria Gin to create a cocktail torn right from the pages of Hemingway’s novel Islands in the Stream to go with a big game stew. It will be a fun, festive and interesting night!” said winemaker, Jill.
Set in the warm elegance of Gowlland Harbour Resort’s dining room, attendees will enjoy a four-course sit-down dinner with accompanying pairings — including wine, spirits, mead and craft beer — dessert and talks with the host chef and winemaker. Seating is community style, and each event will feature a different menu and pairings. Tickets are $87 per person per event. A special overnight package rate, including two tickets to an At The Table evening, hotel room at Gowlland Harbour Resort and continental breakfast for two, is available for $275 per couple.
“We are thrilled to be hosting another year of At The Table — it’s a culinary adventure!” enthused executive chef, Mariana. “Last year was a great success, and we expect this year to continue to grow and offer guests an extraordinary experience...something they’ll fully enjoy and never forget. If you’re a food and drink enthusiast or simply ‘epicurious’, At The Table is not to be missed!”
The first event of the 2014-15 series will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15th and will feature North American writers, such as Ernest Hemingway, Alice Munro, Mark Twain and Michael Pollan as the inspirational spark for the menu. The evening starts at 6:30 pm, doors open at 6:00 pm.
