NQA, USA is the First Certification Body to Gain ANAB (AR 36) Accreditation to AS6081:2012

(NQA, USA), a leading global provider of quality and environmental management system registration services, announced today their approval by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to certify organizations to AS6081.
The standard, “AS6081:2012 Fraudulent/Counterfeit Electronic Parts: Avoidance, Detection, Mitigation, and Disposition – Distributors”, establishes requirements and practices to mitigate the risk of buying, receiving, and selling fraudulent/counterfeit parts. It standardizes requirements, practices, and methods related to supplier management, procurement, inspection, test/evaluation, as well as reporting of suspect or confirmed fraudulent/counterfeit electronic parts.
The volume of suspect fraudulent/counterfeit electronic parts entering into supply chains continues to increase and pose challenges in many markets, including aviation, defense, and telecommunications. The Department of Defense, NASA, FAA and other technology dependent markets have developed regulatory requirements necessitating contractors to put more focus on pursuing solutions related to the detection and avoidance of counterfeit electronic parts in their supply chain.
NQA sought and obtained accreditation for the AS6081 standard in order to support the numerous organizations implementing counterfeit part detection and prevention programs. NQA's first audit to this standard was conducted at North Shore Components, Inc., a distributor specializing in Counterfeit Detection and Counterfeit Risk Mitigation in Bellport, NY. A two stage audit was conducted and witnessed by ANAB, resulting in accreditation for NQA and certification for North Shore Components. Due to high demand, NQA will have several auditors qualified to audit organizations to AS6081 in the coming months.
