Affirmations Hires WBB+McCormack for Executive Director Search - Detroit’s LGBTQ Community Center Poised to Flourish
Palm Springs, Californiaw (PRWEB) November 12, 2014 -- Affirmations, the LGBTQ center of an emergent Detroit, has retained WBB+McCormack to recruit the organization’s next Executive Director.
Founded in 1989, Affirmations is Metro Detroit's community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender people and their allies. It is a nonprofit organization serving people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Housed in a state-of-the-art, multi-use facility in the heart of downtown Ferndale at the Northern border of the City of Detroit, it is easily accessible from across the Metro Detroit area. Affirmations is the hub of this community, celebrating wellness, personal growth and development, youth, and the needs of its constituents. Affirmations is the largest LGBTQ organization in Michigan, and one of the ten largest in the United States. Thanks to a generous bequest in 2013 from a donor with faith in Detroit’s future, Affirmations has paid off its mortgage and has a significant cash reserve.
Resources of the Center include the Pittmann-Puckett Art Gallery, General Motors Foundation Media Center, Bayard Rustin Library, David Bohnett Cyber Center & Cafe, Helpline, and a rooftop sky deck and excellent recreational assets, all in 17,000 square feet of space that is new, modern and accommodating. The Center is available to the community for events and activities.
Established in 1993 as the first LGBT-owned executive search practice in the country, WBB+McCormack has offices in New York and California and has successfully filled more than 300 senior management positions for nonprofit organizations since its inception.
