AgilePoint Unveils Responsive Application Platform (RAP) at International Cloud Expo 2014
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2014 -- AgilePoint, the BPM leader for low-code application development, chose the International Cloud Expo 2014 as a venue for defining a new technology class—Responsive Application Platforms (RAP). RAPs are characterized by a 100% Services Oriented Architecture (SOA), a metadata abstraction framework and a model-driven, process-based approach to application development. AgilePoint’s RAP enables organizations to build internal-use and customer-facing web applications that are self adaptive to the wide variety of devices, apps, and sensors that make up the Internet of Things. AgilePoint’s Responsive Application Platform is available now.
In a packed session at this year’s Expo in Santa Clara, California, Jesse Shiah, AgilePoint’s CEO and cofounder, pointed to the “need to connect” as an early catalyst to supply-chain integration during the dot-com era. Shiah then underscored the fact that connectivity issues and associated problems went up dramatically as social platforms and mobile devices became common-use technologies. According to Shiah, however, the rapid evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT), which includes a wide variety of new devices meant to meter and monitor almost all aspects of daily life, will create connectivity challenges that are “several orders of magnitude” greater than what exist today.
Shiah commented, “The traditional software development paradigm creates rigid, point-to-point connectivity and monolithic implementations that are simply inadequate for the demands of the Internet of Things.” In 2014, the IoT includes about 9 billion devices but projections show that number soaring above fifty billion devices by 2020. “AgilePoint’s RAP technology,” adds Shiah, “enables organizations to develop self-adaptive applications that won’t add to legacy-code maintenance problems as the Internet of Things burgeons in the coming years.”
