American Rose Society to Host 31st Annual Christmas in Roseland at the Gardens of the American Rose Center in Shreveport
Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) November 24, 2014 -- Each holiday season, the Gardens of the American Rose Center, located at 8877 Jefferson Paige Road in Shreveport, are transformed into Christmas in Roseland, a winter wonderland featuring thousands of twinkling lights, dozens of lighted displays, giant “Christmas Cards to the Community,” nightly live entertainment, photos with Santa, rides on the Roseland Express Train and more. 2014 will mark the 31st annual Christmas in Roseland celebration, which will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28 and run through Sunday, Dec. 21. Christmas in Roseland will be open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, 5:30-10 p.m., with the final car admitted at 9:30 p.m. Christmas in Roseland will also open for special “Encore Nights” on Monday, Dec. 22 and Tuesday, Dec. 23. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per carload, with special group rates available for minibus and charter bus groups.
New for 2014, the work of celebrated Chinese artist Chen Yuhua will be on display in the Klima Education and Visitor Center. This exhibit of watercolor paintings of roses, as well as ceramics featuring porcelain roses, is the first-ever United States exhibition of Yuhua’s work. There is no additional fee to view the art show for visitors to Christmas in Roseland. Children under 12 are not permitted in the art show. Also new for 2014, visitors to Christmas in Roseland may vote for the 2014 People’s Choice Award, selecting their favorite “Christmas Cards to the Community.” Please note that Christmas in Roseland is a walking event only; carts are not available.
The spectacular Gardens of the American Rose Center are located on a 118-acre wooded tract near Shreveport, Louisiana. The gardens are home to the national headquarters of the American Rose Society and the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses. The American Rose Center features more than 65 individual rose gardens and 20,000 rosebushes, with a variety of companion plants, sculptures and fountains, including the beautiful Dudley Watkins Reflection Pool. 2014 is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the American Rose Society’s headquarters in Shreveport.
