Major Hospital Adopts Diagnotes® HIPAA-Compliant Mobile Communication System
(PRWEB) December 08, 2014 -- Major Hospital, an 89-bed hospital in Shelbyville, Ind., today announced that it has adopted Diagnotes, a HIPAA-compliant mobile communication system, to streamline clinical communication and documentation and reduce response time, improve workflow and ensure quality patient care.
The hospital has equipped its 300 physicians, nurses and clinical support team members with Diagnotes to securely and seamlessly exchange text messages and attachments. In addition to reducing clinical response time through secure text messaging, Diagnotes also enables users to attach and securely send photos and documents that can provide detailed information for diagnosis and clinical care decisions.
“Having the ability to securely exchange and receive information with other clinical team members no matter where we are located in the hospital is extremely valuable,” said Angela Blum, MD, Pediatric Department head, Major Health Partners. “Not only does Diagnotes expedite communication, but it does so securely. This allows us to focus on our patients and not waste valuable patient-care time tracking down our colleagues for information and consults.”
Diagnotes also facilitates remote documentation of patient encounters that occur in the hospital or other care settings away from the office. The clinical documentation component of Diagnotes allows staff to document a patient encounter on whatever mobile device they prefer – smartphone, tablet or laptop. The documentation is securely transmitted to the office staff, ensuring both continuity of care and revenue cycle management.
“We have fully embraced information technology as a centerpiece of our patient care commitment,” said Dan Vangundy, director of IT, Major Health Partners. “Patients benefit when barriers that stand in the way of clear, timely and secure communication of clinical information are removed. Diagnotes is more than a secure texting solution and can be integrated with our existing information technology framework for additional workflow and communication benefits.”
Diagnotes offers five components, including secure texting, provider scheduling, clinical documentation, answering service automation, and electronic medical record (EMR) integration.
“Our clients are impressed with the ability to customize Diagnotes to address their specific communication needs and to integrate Diagnotes with their existing information technology systems, such as electronic medical records,” said Dave Wortman, Diagnotes chairman and CEO. “Major Hospital is an excellent example of a client that understands the benefits of a complete, flexible system that works for their specific needs today and into the future.”
Major will take advantage of Diagnotes’ EMR integration capability to link the system’s components with its EMR system. Diagnotes allows for mobile access to patient medical records, automatically delivers key data and ensures positive patient identification. Patient-specific alerts can also be set up for events such as admission, discharge and transfer.
