Boston, MA (PRWEB) December 31, 2014 -- Design New England (DNE), a Boston Globe Media Partners publication, has been honored with a first place award in FOLIO: magazine’s annual editorial and design competition.
DNE won a FOLIO: Eddie award for best single article in the shelter/home category for the cover story “Federal, Favreau Style” (http://digital.designnewengland.com/designnewengland/november_december_2013#pg85) in its 2013 November/December issue, written by editor Gail Ravgiala with photographs by contributor Eric Roth. The article showcases interior designer Steven Favreau’s historic home in Chelsea, Vermont.
FOLIO: awards recognize excellence in design (the Ozzie) and editorial (the Eddie), with more than 2,000 entries in 2014, and are considered the Oscars of the magazine industry.
“We felt like ‘The Little Engine That Could’ when we found ourselves in the finalists’ circle with formidable competitors like Architectural Digest, Dwell, and Time Inc.’s Coastal Living and This Old House,” said Gail Ravgiala, Editor of DNE. “Our staff is small but fierce, and we believe that optimism and hard work will win in the end. We couldn’t be happier with this recognition.”
Winners were honored at an awards breakfast on Dec. 11 at the Yale Club in New York, NY.
DNE publishes six times annually and covers architecture, interiors, landscape, renovations, design, and new building techniques. The eight-year-old publication has accumulated 15 national awards for excellence in editorial and design.
The FOLIO: Award is one of many for Boston Globe Media in 2014. Thirteen distinguished media organizations recognized Globe journalists and content with various honors throughout the year, including a Pulitzer Prize.
