Studio Behind ‘Papo & Yo’ to Introduce Virtual Reality Game ‘Time Machine’ at GDC and PAX East
MONTREAL, QUEBEC (PRWEB) February 16, 2015 -- Minority Media Inc., creator of the award-winning game “Papo & Yo”, will showcase its new virtual reality (VR) game, the time travel adventure “Time Machine”, at GDC (March 1-4, 2015) and PAX East (March 5-8, 2015).
Attendees at both events will be among the first to have a hands-on experience of the new VR game on Oculus Rift. Currently under development, “Time Machine” is the first time travel game to fully leverage the unprecedented power of VR technology.
Helmed by Papo & Yo’s creative director Vander Caballero, and written by sekretagent Productions, who helped pen four titles in the successful Assassin’s Creed franchise, “Time Machine” is an ambitious leap into fully immersive virtual entertainment. “We’ve always been inspired by film making,” said Minority’s CEO, Vander Caballero. “Great sci-fi movies - like 2001, Contact, and Interstellar - use futuristic technology as a way to tell a deeper story. That’s what we want to do with Time Machine.”
The game is set in 2070, an era of peace, prosperity, and the pursuit of knowledge. You are part of an elite research team recruited by the Monda Muzeo (World Museum), humankind’s leading institution of knowledge, founded by an enigmatic figure. Your mission is to assemble the most comprehensive record of Earth’s prehistory ever created. To complete your quest, you will travel back to the Jurassic era and navigate a treacherous ecosystem while scanning live dinosaurs to collect their biological data. But it won’t be that simple. Can you manipulate the fabric of time...without tearing it?
The Montreal-based developer’s most ambitious project yet is a collaboration with writers from the Assassin’s Creed franchise to craft a memorable VR experience. “During the Middle Ages, the printing press introduced literature to the world. I think that VR is introducing a new world altogether.”
With no official launch date announced, Minority Media plans for the completion of “Time Machine” to coincide with the release of the first consumer VR devices.
