AccuQuilt Announces their 2015 Quilt Block Design Contest
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) March 20, 2015 -- The AccuQuilt® 2015 Quilt Block Design Contest begins today with over $16,000 in prizes at stake. Quilters of all skill levels should submit their original and creative designs to the contest page by midnight on April 19, 2015.
For entry to the contest, quilters need to design an original quilt block using AccuQuilt shapes in their design, however if they don’t have an AccuQuilt Fabric Cutter and want the shape sizes, they can download the GO! Cutting Equivalent Chart on the contest page. Designs can be drawn by hand, with EQ7, Adobe Illustrator, or any other preferred design software. The quilt block images should then be uploaded to the contest page.
Prizes include an all-expenses paid trip to the AccuQuilt headquarters in Omaha, Neb., AccuQuilt shopping sprees, a free pass and round trip ticket to the Handi Quilter® Academy, over 200 spools of Aurifil™ thread, The Quilt Show Series DVDs, quilting retreat passes, a year’s worth of Mountain Mist® batting, and fabric from P&B Textiles, Robert Kaufman Fabrics, Island Batik and Andover, among other things.
Voting runs the entire length of the contest from March 20—April 19. Fifteen quilt blocks will be selected by popular vote and 15 by AccuQuilt. A panel of guest judges, including mega quilting stars Eleanor Burns, Ricky Tims, Alex Anderson, Edyta Sitar, and the AccuQuilt team will then select the top 10 quilt blocks. AccuQuilt will make the final selection of the grand prizewinner and the runner-up. Winners will be notified on or before May 5, 2015 via phone and email if they have submitted the winning quilt blocks. In addition, they will be publicly announced at the AccuQuilt headquarters on June 4, 2015 at the Quilt Block Unveiling Event with special guest, Edyta Sitar.
The grand prizewinner’s quilt block will be displayed on a 17-foot sign outside of AccuQuilt’s headquarters for the whole year. Additionally, they will be featured in Quiltmaker.
“We are excited about the Quilt Block Design Contest. It’s something our customers look forward to every year. We join them in the excitement and can’t wait to see all the creative designs and look forward to meeting the winners,” said Steve Nabity, AccuQuilt Chief Energizing Officer.
AccuQuilt encourages quilters to tell their loved ones about the contest, so they are prepared to vote for their entries daily through April 19. For the full contest details, prize package information, and frequently asked questions, quilters can visit AccuQuilt’s contest page.
