Global Leader in Cloud-Based Solutions for Open Data and Data-Driven Government Communicates the Value of Its Financial Transparency Suite and 311 Service Connect Application in a Creative New Way

Socrata (, the global leader in cloud-based solutions for open data and data-driven government, today announced that it has won – in collaboration with BitWizards ( – a Gold ADDY® award for its Financial Transparency Product Video and a Silver ADDY® award for its 311 Service Connect Product Video.

The ADDY® awards are given by the American Advertising Federation, which runs one of the largest and most representative competitions meant to recognize creative talent in the advertising industry. Over 40,000 entries are submitted yearly.

The ADDY® competition is a three-tier process. The first tier is an entry at the local Ad Fed Club level; the second is a district competition; and the third is a national competition. Socrata’s ADDY® awards were won during the first round of the competition.

A Silver ADDY® award recognizes a high level of creative achievement, and a Gold ADDY® recognizes the highest level of excellence in the creative industry.

“These ADDY® awards confirm that Socrata is a very creative company – especially when it comes to equipping and promoting digital government leadership around the world for our customers,” says Kevin Merritt, Socrata’s CEO and founder. “The public sector is becoming increasingly innovative in its use of technology, and our breakthrough platform and solutions for data-driven government are definitely fueling this mainstream movement everywhere.”

Socrata’s Suite of Financial Transparency Applications

Designed for quick deployment and citizen empowerment, Socrata’s Financial Transparency suite of applications is a first, because it helps governments of all sizes to publish budget and spending data quickly, economically and in a consumer-friendly way. Rather than wading through hundreds of pages of scanned documents – including legal and financial information – citizens and staff see budget and spending data in vivid color. The charts, graphs and images are attractive, navigable and easy to understand and consume.

Socrata’s 311 Service Connect Application

The Socrata Service Connect application takes 311 data and unlocks it for citizens in a visually engaging and mobile responsive interface. Additionally, the application’s administration interface includes analytical tools that help administrators gain insight into the citizen services that people care about the most. For 311 officials and other government agencies, the application improves service delivery by providing unique quantitative insight into how their citizens interact with the app. This allows 311 officials and other agencies to understand the most important services for a specific area of the city.

Concludes Merritt: “Our collaboration with BitWizards on these videos was a tremendous success. Their thoughtfulness and quick, creative understanding about the power of digital government leadership was the foundation and central ingredient for our wins in the ADDY® competition.”
