Author Amanda Palasciano Pens this Decade's 'Mean Girls/Clueless/Heathers' in New Book MASCARA, Sees Overwhelming Social Reply

Edgewater, NJ (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- New Jersey resident and 7x award-winning journalist Amanda Palasciano released a teen/young adult fiction book this month that has the internet abuzz. Palasciano also introduced Mascara on worldwide news this week. Mascara, which is an acronym for the characters in the book, deals with teen popularity and the unfortunate lengths high schoolers will go to attain it. Palasciano released the introductory 227-page book on Amazon (174 pps. for Kindle) and BarnesandNoble.com as the first part of an expectantly long series to come. Social media has responded showing the book’s popularity is even higher than the girls it is about.

Last week, Palasciano and Mascara were seen on global business news via CCTV New York in a segment that featured publishing giant Macmillan Books. Thousands of dollars were also raised on well-known crowd-funding platform GoFundMe.com in support of Mascara in just its first three days. The campaign is raising the money to get Mascara out of digital and into print copies. To date, the funding has just reached $2400. The book has its own website and blog, http://www.MascaraBook.com, which has seen web traffic from ten countries in under a month's time. There are also many grassroots marketing stunts to come which start with giving out 500 free tubes of blue mascara at pop diva music concerts in New York City in April. Some mascara tubes have already been distributed on the west coast.

Palasciano hopes to attack many teen issues, especially image issues, in the books to come. “I’d like to address an issue per book but in a ‘cool’ and relatable way for teenagers. I grew up with Sweet Valley Twins as my bible and I know the influence a series can have on a teenage girl."
