DesignsbySarina Launches ‘The Florence Collection’ in Honor of Her Late Mother Just in Time for Mother’s Day
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) April 20, 2015 -- DesignsbySarina, known best for its unique style of wire wrapping jewelry, proudly announces the launch of The Florence Jewelry Line in honor of lead designer, Sarina Schick’s late mother who passed away from ovarian cancer.
“It is an honor to be able to do this in loving memory of my mother, Florence, who had lost her battle with cancer,” said Schick. “Red was my mom’s favorite color and that was the inspiration behind choosing garnet stones within this collection. I could not think of a better way to recognize my mom and the legacy she left to those who loved her this mother’s day.”
More than 22,000 woman are diagnosed every year with ovarian cancer and the survival rate is less than 30 percent. Ovarian cancer, also known as the ‘silent killer’, is very difficult to diagnose because it usually presents itself as a lesser, more common illness.
“Ovarian cancer is personal to me. There is no reliable early detection test available, which is why most women are diagnosed too late for treatment to be effective,” continued Schick. “Every piece sold within The Florence Collection we will donate a portion of the sales to Be The Difference Foundation, whose mission is to help women increase their chance of survival of ovarian cancer. This organization embodies the integrity that my mother possessed. It is a privilege to be able to do this in her memory.”
According to the American Cancer Society in March of 2015, ovarian cancer accounts for three percent of cancers among women, but is causes more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive systems. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/ovariancancer/detailedguide/ovarian-cancer-signs-and-symptoms

- Abdominal bloating

- Changes in bowel habits
- Urinary urgency or frequency
