New York (PRWEB) April 23, 2015 -- William C. Silverman, Litigation shareholder and head of the pro bono program at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been selected as City & State Reports’ 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Award honoree for All-Around Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility & the Law. Silverman was presented with the award at City & State’s Corporate Social Responsibility breakfast event Wednesday, April 22, at Baruch College in Manhattan.
“There is a huge, unmet need for legal services among people of limited means,” said Silverman. “I am proud that Greenberg Traurig recognizes the importance of public service and the need for its attorneys to strive for equal access to justice.”

He serves as counsel to the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition, and is on the boards of directors for The Fund for Modern Courts, which recently received the DoGooder ImpactX Award for a video the firm financed on the need for more family court judges, The Children’s Law Center, and Legal Information for Families Today. He is also president of Greenberg Traurig’s Holly Skolnick Fellowship Foundation, which is the largest single funder of Equal Justice Works fellowships in the country. He has been recognized as a leader in the pro bono community, and his accolades include being named one of New York’s New Abolitionists by Sanctuary for Families and the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition; the Above and Beyond Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service from Sanctuary for Families; and the Commitment to Justice Award for Outstanding Partner from inMotion.
