USA Premier Volleyball League to Hold Fourth Annual Championships in Detroit, Michigan
Eustis, FL (PRWEB) May 18, 2015 -- The PVL is gearing up for an exciting championship event that will host professional men’s and women’s regional volleyball teams from across the country. The event will take place over the course of four days at the COBO Center in Detroit, MI. The feature courts will provide a live streaming option for fans that are not able to make the trip.
The first PVL championships took place in 2012 in Salt Lake City, UT with only 12 women’s teams competing. In 2015, the PVL has grown to 29 teams, including both men and women. To be eligible to play in the PVL, athletes must have exhausted their collegiate eligibility and must be current members of their respective USA Volleyball region. There is a $40,000 prize purse to be split between the winning men’s and women’s teams.

Steve Bishop, President of the PVL, said he is very excited for the growth of the league and the upcoming championships. “This year we will have a record number of teams heading to Detroit for our 4th annual championship event,” said Bishop. “The talent level continues to increase on all of our teams and this year we have already had fifty eight (58) PVL matches across the country leading up to Detroit.”
Bishop also commented that In Detroit, spectators will see over one hundred (100) PVL matches over the four days of competition, with many of them being available online for fans to watch at home. “Our future plans call for more PVL competitions in front of our fans during the regular season in addition to a 3-event championship series to highlight our best teams in the league,” said Bishop. “We are grateful to USA Volleyball for their support with courts, officials, lodging assistance, and prize money during the championships. Additionally, with great partners like Data Project, David Jester Photography, PVL Announcer Dave Shaw, and ROX Volleyball, the league is ready for another exciting championship event this year!”
The mission of the PVL is to create a successful and sustainable indoor professional volleyball league for elite-level post-collegiate male and female athletes in the United States.
