Dallas-based Park Cities Pet Sitter to Offer “Training and Enrichment 2” Group Dog Training Class Beginning Saturday, June 6th, 2015.
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- Park Cities Pet Sitter is offering a 5-week “Training and Enrichment 2” Group Dog Training class starting Saturday, June 6th at 10:30am. The classes will be held outdoors in the courtyard of 5831 McCommas Blvd in Dallas, with a maximum of six dogs allowed in the class. The classes will run for five weeks, with no class being held over the 4th of July weekend. Cost for the class is $135.
In this Intermediate-to-Advanced level class, dogs will solidify their practical behavior skills, but do so in a rewards-based class that highlights games and other enrichment activities as a desired method for learning and retaining behaviors. Reinforcement of “attention, sit, down, stay, come, go to place and leave it” will all be practiced in a variety of enjoyable scenarios that will increase the likelihood of a dog’s compliance, and an owner’s willingness to emphasize the behavior over the long term.
Dogs participating in the class should have completed a basic obedience class within the last couple of years, and should be comfortable in the presence of other dogs. This class would benefit any dog that already has compliance in many basic obedience areas, but would benefit from practice in more complex scenarios or in the presence of distractions. The class is also ideal for owners wanting to learn fun ways to enrich their relationship with their dog, and those that wish to fine tune their leadership skills with their dog.
Park Cities Pet Sitter President, Joette White, put together the “Training and Enrichment 2” Group Dog Training class after many of the students from her introductory group classes asked for a more advanced class. “We love how invested our clients are in their relationships with their dogs,” said Ms. White. “Our Basic Obedience classes are always full, and each dog and handler in those classes works so hard to master the skills our trainers teach. When so many of these handlers in our Basic Obedience classes ask us for additional classes so they can continue learning with their dog, it is so heartwarming. There is nothing more beautiful than to see a strong and growing bond between a dog and their handler.”
Park Cities Pet Sitter’s “Training and Enrichment 2” Group Dog Training class will be taught by trainer, Ann Allums, CPDT-KA. In addition to dog training, Ms. Allums also works for the US Dog Agility organization. Prior to that, Ms. Allums worked for the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and developed their CLASS curriculum of “Canine Life and Social Skills.” Like all of Park Cities Pet Sitter’s trainers, Ms. Allums teaches using positive reinforcement techniques.
Those interested in signing up for the classes must come prepared for being outdoors, and wear closed-toe shoes for safety. It is also recommended that dog owners bring a six-foot leash and lots of small, tasty treats for their dog. No flexi leads, chain leads, prong or shock collars are allowed.
