HomeTown Health LLC, an association of over 60 rural hospitals in the Southeast, selected Nathan Ebersole, Chief Financial Officer of Calhoun-Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, Florida, as the recipient of the 2015 Florida CFO of the Year award at the HomeTown Health 3rd Annual Florida Conference held in Orlando on June 15-16.
This award is presented by HomeTown Health to chief financial officers who exhibit extraordinary talents and skills in positively influencing the delivery of health care in their communities. Ebersole was selected for his "outstanding leadership and a commitment to the financial integrity and health of the hospital."
In 2015, he led Calhoun-Liberty Hospital in compliance reporting as a part of the FLEX (Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility) program through the State Office of Rural Health. The grant provides funding for Critical Access Hospitals for items such as quality and performance improvement activities and stabilizing hospital finances. Through this program, HomeTown Health works with financial officers and leaders, including Ebersole on the Financial Improvement Collaborative, providing education and collecting important financial benchmarking data. Ebersole notably demonstrates a high level of engagement in optimizing the resources provided for himself as well promoting the education among his hospital team. HomeTown notes that he also exceeds all compliance and reporting requirements.
“At a time when health care is facing great change, and rural hospitals face great financial challenges, Nathan has exhibited exemplary leadership skills and demonstrated a commitment to financial integrity. It is on the basis of his ongoing performance that HomeTown Health is proud to announce that Nathan Ebersole is awarded the 2015 HomeTown Health Florida CFO of the Year Award,” said HomeTown’s Managing Director, Kathy Whitmire.
