Web marketing companies call for donations in support of wildlife sanctuary

We always strive to do good, and we saw Orion's adoption as an opportunity to do something positive in light of a tragedy. Adopting Orion won't bring Cecil back, but we feel that it's a fitting tribute.

In light of the online attacks directed at Page 1 Solutions regarding a former business relationship with the Minnesota dentist who admitted to killing celebrity lion Cecil (according to KDVR in Denver on July 28 -, Page 1 Solutions subsidiary Altrumedia used a portion of its profits to adopt Orion the lion at The Wild Animal Sanctuary. In a statement released Monday, the Web marketing companies are encouraging donations to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in support of Orion and other animals that call the sanctuary home.

According to a July 29 post on the company website, Altrumedia and Page 1 Solutions were “appalled at the atrocious acts committed against Cecil” and sought to give back in a way that would honor the slain animal's memory.

“We always strive to do good, and we saw Orion's adoption as an opportunity to do something positive in light of a tragedy,” said Troy Dunn, vice president of operations at Altrumedia. “Adopting Orion won't bring Cecil back, but we feel that it's a fitting tribute.”

According to the Altrumedia website, the company's annual adoption fee ensures that Orion will “receive the best food, care and veterinary services possible.” Dunn said that anybody interested in donating to Orion or The Wild Animal Sanctuary should donate funds directly to the sanctuary, and that donations are an opportunity for clients of the Web marketing companies and others to support not only Orion but also The Wild Animal Sanctuary itself.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that provides shelter and care for nearly 300 lions and other large carnivores, along with a host of other species. According to a story published July 29 by 9News in Denver, the sanctuary recently made a controversial move to entice more donors and increase the amount of money the organization can spend on the animals by tripling the price of admission.

“Altrumedia and its subsidiary And Justice For All, LLC maintain a commitment to donate 10 percent of all profits to charity,” Dunn said. “Our contributions are evenly divided among causes supporting humans, the environment and animals. We are proud to add Orion and The Wild Animal Sanctuary to these worthy causes.”
