Gastonia, NC (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- The head office of North Carolina’s McIlveen Family Law Firm has finished moving to a new address - a charming, historic four-story building, now with a 21st century twist - located along S. South Street in Gastonia, NC.
The McIlveen Family Law Firm’s head office is now located on the building’s third and fourth floors, as well as the building rooftop. The new office was designed with a custom "open office" design concept, not typical of law firms, but more reminiscent of a Silicon Valley company, a building layout designed with collaboration and idea generation from the very start.
The building’s third floor houses the reception area, conference rooms for clients, and a café. The entire fourth floor is an open workspace dedicated to the staff. Employee amenities include a fitness center, a café with a soda fountain, a nap room with a hammock, and a rooftop deck. The emphasis is squarely on productivity through accessibility. The building's first floor will be either retail or restaurant space, while the second floor will be leased for offices.
“There is a need for speed in business. Business slows down when decisions can’t be made by partners who are behind locked doors,” shares founding partner Angela McIlveen. “Our goal was to build a place where people moved naturally through tasks, stand through tasks, and are able to collaborate - whether it’s lunch in the café, catching a nap in the hammock, exercising, or catching rays on the sun deck.”
The quiet rooms for employees are named after different locations such as New York, NY; Boston, MA; London, England; Paris, France; and Asheville, NC.
“A law firm without offices is a novel idea,” says McIlveen. “With this open space design, we aim to establish even more effective teamwork and interaction between the different departments - ultimately benefitting both our employees and our clients.”
Built in 1920, the historic building keeps its original hardwood floors and tin ceilings. But the building is future-focused, drawing upon the most modern examples of corporate and academic design that foster creativity and cooperation.
