3,000 American Activists Mobilized Today in Florida to Protest Vice President Biden’s Meeting to Sell the Iran Nuclear Deal and Demand a Vote of Disapproval in Congress
Davie, FL (PRWEB) September 03, 2015 -- This morning, a massive protest organized by Americans United Against the Deal took place outside of the David Posnack Jewish Community Center in Davie, Florida to speak out against what they believe are the dangers of the Iranian nuclear accord that the groups says will bring Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, closer to becoming a nuclear threshold state.
Concerned activists assembled to exercise their rights as Americans and make their voices heard, with Davie police estimating the crowd at around 3,000 people. The crowd included Democrats, Republicans, Christians, Jews, Latinos, U.S. military veterans, survivors of Iranian terrorism and other Americans from a variety of backgrounds.
As Vice President Joe Biden arrived for a private meeting with Broward County Jewish community leaders organized by Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, his motorcade encountered thousands of passionate protestors marching and holding aloft American flags, signs and banners with powerful messages against the deal. On short notice, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office demonstrated exceptional professionalism and provided excellent security for the event.
“Every single Senator and House Member deserves the opportunity to vote on this deal, which is poised to change the course of history in a catastrophic manner,” said Joe Zevuloni, one of the gathering’s leaders.
Sharona Whistler, a protest organizer and the Executive Director of the Florida Region for the Zionist Organization of America, added: “We have gathered at an historic moment to speak loudly, clearly and in a united voice that we are against a deal that allows one of the greatest enemies of the free world to obtain a nuclear weapon. This deal is a gift to Iran, and will lead to more terrorism and then eventually war.”
Said event participant Evan Nierman: “The Obama Administration should not try to block this critical Congressional vote with a filibuster that rams this bad deal through while defying the will of the American people. Congress must demand the opportunity to vote, and to amend and strengthen this deal in order to safeguard the national security interests of America and our allies.”
Various national and local media outlets were on-hand as the crowd assembled to hear remarks from South Florida Community leaders. Speakers included:
- Pastor Mario Bramnick, President of the Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition
- Joe Zevuloni, Event Organizer for Americans United Against the Deal
- Rabbi Efrem Goldberg, Senior Rabbi at Boca Raton Synagogue
- Rabbi Barry Silver of Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor in Boynton Beach
- Daniel Miller, survivor of an Iranian-sponsored suicide bombing attack
- Brian Mast, a U.S. Army combat veteran who lost both legs in combat Afghanistan by an Improvised Explosive Device and a candidate for Florida’s 18th Congressional District
