Fama and CARCO combine service offerings to offer new insight to employers.

Fama Technologies, Inc., a venture-backed startup based in Los Angeles, CA and CARCO Group, Inc., a top-tier HR workflow and background screening provider based in Holtsville, NY, partner to bring disruptive ‘people insight’ to the Fortune 1000.

The mission of the partnership is to help employers identify risk in the character and reputation of potential hires. CARCO’s existing HR suite helps identify and reduce this risk today, and this partnership adds another layer of insight drawn from the public, online record.

Both companies understand that people are the most valuable, but can be the most unpredictable, part of any organization; standard criminal, credit, and substance abuse screens have helped reduce this sort of risk for employers for decades.

Yet the character-analysis landscape has changed, as the breadcrumbs of a person’s online identity are increasingly being used to make important decisions in the ‘analog’ world. Facebook recently patented technology to let lenders use social media to qualify borrowers. The University of Arkansas football coach rejects scholarships based on Twitter profiles.
