Burlesque Royalty Courts Audiences at the 13th Annual New York Burlesque Festival

“The world’s largest burlesque festival is an event for all ages,” said Jen Gapay, co-producer of the New York Burlesque Festival. “Anyone who enjoys glamour, comedy, dancing and fun should put this event on their calendar.”
The event will feature living burleque legend Judith Stein, 2008 Queen of Burlesque Angie Pontani, 2006 Miss Exotic World Julie Atlas Muz and winner of the 2012 Burlesque Hall of Fame's “Best Boylesque”performer, Russell Bruner. These kings and queens of burlesque will perform at Brooklyn's Bell House and Brooklyn Bowl, BB Kings on West 42nd, The Tippler in Chelsea Market and The Highline Ballroom.
Thursday night's “Teaser Party!” at the Bell House in Brooklyn will tempt audiences appetite's for what's in store for the weekend. Hosted by Shelly the Singing Siren Watson & Bastard Keith this night will feature performances by over a dozen national and international performers including 2012's Mr. Exotic World winner Russell Bruner (WA), Eva La Feva (Chicago), Gala Delicious (Detroit), Jonny Porkpie (NYC), foot stomping DJ Momotaro and much more. After the show, attendees can visit the elaborate burlesque bazaar, and then dance alongside the stars of the show, exclusive members of the media and sponsors of the event.
Friday's Premier Party at Williamsburg’s hippest retreat, Brooklyn Bowl will feature Albert Cadabre as host. This infamous party features over twenty burlesque performers including the 2014 Burlesque Hall of Fame “Best Boylesque” winner Mr. Gorgeous (NYC), the 2014 Burlesque Hall of Fame winners of “Best Troupe” The Ruby Revue (Dallas), LuLu Liqueur (Australia), Rita Lynch (Italy) Sergei (Japan) and many more. Expect high energy and cutting edge burlesque at this legendary with an infamously rowdy audience. Last year's audience even included an enthusiastic Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame. DJ Fresh Prince of Darkness will turn the evening into a late night dance party flanked by some of NYC’s hottest go-go dancers.
The Saturday Spectacular at BB Kings on 42nd Street will turn up the class and audiences are encouraged to don their best top hat n’ tails. This star-studded night will be hosted by The World Famous BOB and showcases only the finest burlesque performers from around the globe, including living burlesque legend Judith Stein (Canada), Miss Exotic World 2014 and Queen of Burlesque Midnite Martini (CO), 2004 Miss Exotic World Dirty Martini (NYC), 2008's Queen of Burlesque Angie Pontani (NYC), Kitty Bang Bang (UK), 2012's winner of “Best Troupe” at the Burlesque Hall of Fame The Peek-A-Boo Revue (Philadelphia) and more! Plus audiences will enjoy live music from special guests, the Grammy Award-winning Brian Newman Quintet! After the show audience members are encouraged to head next door to Lucille's Bar, where they'll be treated to an all-night dance party with DJ Bill Coleman.
Sunday will feature a daytime event in Chelsea: The Burlesque Bazaar and Showcase at The Tippler. This special matinee will feature a show hosted by Dr. Lucky with performances from some of NYC’s favorite up-and-coming performers. Attendees can also enjoy The Burlesque Bazaar, a burlesque marketplace filled with amazing vendors of vintage clothing, accessories and pasties! There will also be a Q&A with burlesque legend Judith Stein, music from DJ Joe, a live pin-up photo shoot from 2pm - 6pm and more.
The festival goes out with one last pomp and circumstance on Sunday evening at Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom with The Golden Pastie Awards and Super Club Stage Show! Join notorious host Scotty the Blue Bunny & all the performers at this Oscar-styled escapade, full of mischievous antics, live performances and an awards ceremony that both honors and pokes fun at the world’s finest burlesque performers with a “double-D sized” Golden Pastie for winners. Jen Gapay – Jen Gapay is the mastermind behind Thirsty Girl Productions - http://www.thirstygirlproductions.com an alias that serves her well as the producer of hundreds of music, burlesque and variety shows. She was voted the “#1 Most Influential Non-Performing Woman in Burlesque” by 21st Century Burlesque in 2013 & 2014, and was a featured Guest of Honor at BurlyCon in 2014. Gapay started The New York Burlesque Festival in 2003 (with Angie Pontani) and The New York Boylesque Festival (with Daniel Nardicio) in 2012. Both festivals are multi-day, multi-venue events featuring a cavalcade of international performers showcasing for sold out crowds. Thirsty Girl Productions debuted in 1997 with Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party, an annual rock-and-roll carnival that continues to this day. After moving to New York, Gapay was Promotions Director at Village Voice, where she created and produced Siren Music Festival at Coney Island, a blockbuster event that drew record crowds in its first two years. She was also the Special Events Director of Astroland Amusement Park from 2003-2008, and currently produces special events for Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park. In 2010, Thirsty Girl founded and produced The Coney Island Talent Show, now in its fourth year. She is also the Associate Producer of the PBS-aired documentary “Last Summer at Coney Island,” and has organized benefits for Coney Island USA, The Coney Island History Project and Save Coney Island. Gapay was Artistic Director for 2006's The Dresden Dolls' “F*ck the Back Row Tour,” and talent coordinator for several tours in the USA, Europe and Australia. In the summer of 2008, she teamed up with Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls to co-produce “The Establishment: A New World Cabaret Experience” at the Rothbury Music Festival in Michigan. Angie Pontani - Angie Pontani is a contemporary burlesque dancer, choreographer, producer and costumer based in Brooklyn, NY. Angie began her career in the mid-1990s as a teenager in New York dancing in the Dutch Weismann Follies at age 17. After the close of Dutch Weismanns, Angie went on to launch The World Famous Pontani Sisters, who performed regularly at Marion's Continental and Windows On the World in the World Trade Center. In 2006, Angie started to focus on her solo performances. Pontani was the co-producer and star of "This Is Burlesque" at the now-defunct Corio Supper Club. She performs around the world solo and with the Pontani Sisters, and was a creator of the DVD series, "Go-Go Robics" and "Go-Go Dance with Angie Pontani" produced by World Dance New York. Angie produces and stars in the Burlesque-A-Pades touring production and is the co-producer of the New York Burlesque Festival, an event that happens annually and brings together hundreds of burlesque performers from around the world for 4 nights of performance in NYC. Pontani also hosts "The Pontani Pages,"a monthly talk show format podcast produced by JL Aronson in NYC. Angie was crowned Miss Cyclone in 2007 in honor of the historic roller coaster The Coney Island Cyclone. As a Coney Island resident, she has been very active in the fight to save the from rezoning that would jeopardize the amusement district. Angie was crowned "The Reigning Queen of Burlesque, the winner of the Miss Exotic World Pageant in 2008" at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Reunion at The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. Other awards include,"The Best Body in Burlesque"-2007 New York Burlesque Festival, "#1 Burlesque Attraction in the Nation"-AOL.com, "Best NY Based Dance Company" - Show Business Weekly, "Hottest Burlesque Troupe" - Village Voice.
