CTAC Live, through the generous support of Oklahoma Arts Council and local business sponsors, is pleased to present the 2015-2016 CTAC Live Concert Series line up.
The season will kick off Sept. 24th, 2015 with "M-pact". An amazing acapella group hailed as "one of the best pop-jazz vocal groups in the world" by the San Francisco Chronicle, "M-pact" is respected worldwide as a cutting edge trailblazer in the realm of vocal music. Emerging from an age of auto-tune and overproduction, this Los Angeles-based ensemble has cultivated a new generation of ears hungry for the fresh, raw power of nature's "first instrument" - the human voice.
December 4th, 2015 features "The Hunts". The Hunts are a Chesapeake, Virginia-based band made up of seven brothers and sisters who’ve been playing music together almost their entire lives. With a harmony-laced take on alt-folk that’s both breathtaking and sweetly ethereal, "The Hunt"s started experimenting with songwriting and soon brought to life a batch of songs that reveal their sophisticated sense of melody and undeniably dreamy innocence. Now heading out on tour in support of Life Was Simple, "The Hunts" are thrilled to harmonize for bigger audiences than ever before.
Feb 4, 2016 will bring an amazing night of art to the stage with" ARTRAGEOUS". This show has to be seen to be believed. Combining elements of art, music, and visual performance, the "ARTRAGEOUS" show is truly a culmination of the Pink Flamingo legacy. Speed painting combined with music and a bunch of twists and turns along the way make the "ARTRAGEOUS" show something everyone will enjoy. Bring the whole family out to enjoy this truly unique show.
Hailing from Columbia, on April 15, 2016, Cimarron will perform the festive dance music of ‘joropo’, a fiercely virtuoso display of rippling melodies and powerful rhythms combining Andalusian, Indigenous Indian and African roots. Led by harpist Carlos Rojas, these musicians seek to explore and experiment with their rich heritage whilst retaining the essence of the tradition. The musical fireworks created by harp, bandola, cuatro, bass, cajon, tambora, maracas and high- pitched voices are simply breathtaking.
The season will wrap up with some good ole Red Dirt with Kaitlin Butts on June 25th, 2016 at Fuqua Park in Duncan, OK. After listening to Kaitlin Butts’ pure and simple country music, it is obvious that she is not riding the fence where her music is concerned. With vocals that throw you back to the honesty of early female honky-tonkers, and with that nostalgia refreshingly uncontrived, this Oklahoman sings her songs with 50 years of heartbreak in her voice, though she is not even half that age. Kaitlin’s concert in the park is will be the feature performance for the 2nd Annual Art Walk Duncan.
For most concerts, doors will open at 7:00pm with the performance beginning at 7:30pm at the Simmons Center, 800 Chisholm Trail Parkway in Duncan, Okla.
