Marina Del Rey Hospital, an Affiliate of Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Creates New Homecare Division
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- Marina Del Rey Hospital has announced the launch of a new homecare division, Marina Homecare. Marina Homecare, a professional caregiving division, is a collaboration between Marina Del Rey Hospital and 24Hr HomeCare, an award winning non-medical homecare provider known for its innovation and service levels. 24Hr HomeCare has 13 locations throughout California and Arizona and was recently named Best In-Home Care Company by LA Daily News.
“With the changing climate of healthcare, Marina Del Rey Hospital was looking for ways to improve patient outcomes after hospitalization,” Chief Nursing Officer Paulette Heitmeyer stated. “We know that many of our patients need additional assistance outside of medical home health, which is a great service but typically only provides intermittent care for a brief period of time, perhaps an hour visit 2-3 days per week. Some of our patients seek additional care, such as help with their activities of daily living, personal care, or even someone to drive them to a follow up appointment. Many of our staff have utilized 24Hr HomeCare for their own families, and have seen how solution-oriented 24Hr HomeCare can be, even in times of urgent crisis. We strongly believe our partnership will help with throughput challenges, reduce our readmission rate, and ultimately improve patient satisfaction.”
Hospitals are seeking additional service lines as a result of the affordable care acts efforts in reducing hospitalizations. Marina Homecare creates an additional service line for Marina Del Rey Hospital, assisting the hospital to fund its programs and services.
24Hr’s Co-founder Ryan Iwamoto mentioned how similar programs throughout the state have paved the way for hospital partnerships: “We have been fortunate to work with other community based organizations throughout the state that have benefitted from our collaborations. Marina Del Rey Hospital is an organization that many of our patients have utilized for their care and we felt there was a natural synergy to form this collaboration as many of our programs were created to benefit hospitals’ efforts with cost savings and readmission prevention.”
