Office Depot Foundation honors disaster relief charity for ‘serving the community of mankind’
Boca Raton, FL, (PRWEB) September 30, 2015 -- The Office Depot Foundation has honored international disaster relief charity ShelterBox USA with a 2015 Listen Learn Care Award for ‘exceptional work in sheltering victims of natural disasters worldwide.’ The award was presented during the Civil Society Leadership Symposium at Office Depot Corporate Headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida.
"ShelterBox understands disaster relief and adds an innovative twist by including – as its name implies – actual shelter for disaster victims in the relief supplies that it provides. It’s a highly creative and unusual approach that complements that outstanding work that so many other nonprofit organizations carry out when disasters strike," said Mary Wong, president of The Office Depot Foundation.
“We are very pleased to receive this honor,” said Alan Monroe, interim executive director of ShelterBox USA. “The values that this award highlights, including compassion, vision and leadership, are instrumental in serving the community of mankind. We thank Office Depot for recognizing our impact and for their own commitment to making a difference around the world.”
ShelterBox recently responded to disasters and conflict in Nepal, Chile, Iraq, Cameroon, Tanzania, Niger, and the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis. For the latest on ShelterBox deployments, please visit http://www.shelterboxusa.org.
