FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (PRWEB) November 19, 2015 -- The award-winning Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant has been an integral part of South Florida’s holiday celebration for the past 32 years. Starting with three inaugural shows in 1984, this special event has grown to fifteen performances over a three week period in November and December of 2015. More than a thousand people combine efforts to form the cast and crew required to present a Christmas celebration of this magnitude. These volunteers, all members of First Baptist Fort Lauderdale, work all year in anticipation of these three weeks.
First Baptist Fort Lauderdale boasts a state of the art venue built specifically for this annual Christmas event. The stage and sets were designed by George and Goldberg (“Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies” and “The Millenium Village at EPCOT”) and Broadway designers Peter Wolf (“Peter Pan”) and Bill Eckart (“Cinderella”), with flying effects by the same team that brought the wonder of flight to the Broadway productions of “Wicked”, “Peter Pan” and “Dancing on Ice”. All of this in addition to the costumes, stage flats, props, choreography and other elements are created by church members, many of who have been a part of this production for over 25 years.
The Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant bills itself as, “South Florida’s largest Christmas Celebration.” This broadway-style stage show opens November 27th and runs through December 13th, and features a festive opening scene with familiar carols in a turn-of-the-century setting, a concert of inspirational contemporary songs, and a musical drama of the nativity and life of Christ. This year’s Pageant includes a spectacular snow-filled winter wonderland, an elegant cityscape, flying angels, live animals and whole lot more.
The Christmas Pageant has been recognized for its excellence with three Emmy awards, 2 Chrystal Award’s from the National Broadcasters Association, 4 Telly Awards, and an Angel Award. It’s the family event of the holiday season for the 40,000 guests in our Fort Lauderdale theatre and the millions of television viewers literally around the globe. It is a one-of-a-kind event that brings together family, friends and loved ones for a joyous celebration of the Christmas season.
