Schneider Electric Partners with City of Tupelo to Take On the Largest Parks and Recreation Energy Efficiency Project in the State of Mississippi
DALLAS (PRWEB) November 20, 2015 -- Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced the start of construction on a $5 million energy savings performance contract (ESPC) project with the City of Tupelo, Miss. The project will transform the city’s buildings and community areas to improve the quality of life for residents and promote local economic development. It is expected to reduce the City of Tupelo’s utility budget by 18 percent, saving more than $140,000 in annual energy costs or $2.8 million over the life of the project.
The City of Tupelo faced outdated facilities and aging equipment and technologies throughout its frequented community areas, causing it to miss out on sports tourism revenue and other opportunities for economic growth. Schneider Electric worked closely with the city to develop a turnkey energy efficiency solution that will impact 23 buildings and 27 sports fields, which will revitalize the community for years to come. Key components of the project include new sports field and park lighting, interior and exterior building lighting, mechanical renovations, building automation system (BAS) upgrades and building envelope sealing. The project is expected to be completed in November 2016.

The ESPC project will generate tremendous energy savings, with environmental impacts equivalent to:
• Removing 12,400 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere
• Planting 10,160 acres of trees
• Powering 1,129 homes
